Pallets of baby formula are being shipped to border detention facilities amid a shortage that has left many parents unable to find it in their local stores, according to a GOP representative.
“They are sending pallets, pallets of baby formula to the border,” Rep. Kat Cammack, R-Florida, said in a video posted on Facebook Wednesday. “Meanwhile, in our own district at home, we can’t find baby formula.”
Cammack posted photos on social media of empty formula shelves in Florida alongside pallets of food being shipped to the border, saying in the video that a concerned border patrol agent sent him the image.

She said the image comes from the “Ursula processing facility” in Texas, where thousands of people are being housed, processed and then released.” The Florida lawmaker said the concerned agent told her “you wouldn’t believe the shipment I just sent.” to bring”. “
“He’s been a border patrol agent for 30 years and he’s never seen anything like it. He is a grandfather and says that his own children cannot get baby formula,” he added.
US Customs and Border Protection did not immediately respond to a Fox News request to confirm the image’s authenticity.
STEFANIK, HINSON DEMAND FDA TO ADDRESS BABY FORMULA SHORTAGE, BLAME BIDEN POLICIES: ‘FAMILIES DESERVE BETTER’
The story comes as more than 100 House Republicans called for the biden administration do more to address ongoing shortages that have worried parents running from store to store hoping to find formula.
“This issue is a matter of life and death, and it is time for this administration to treat it with the proper urgency it deserves,” Republican lawmakers said in a letter to Biden on Wednesday.
Supply chain disruptions were exacerbated when Abbott, one of the nation’s largest formulamakers, was subject to a major recall over safety concerns. According to an analysis by Datasembly, which tracks product data for retailers, the percentage of baby formula out of stock is currently 43%, up from 30% in early April.
“This issue has been exacerbated by supply chain challenges, product recalls and historical inflation,” Datasembly CEO Ben Reich said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “The category started experiencing storage issues from July 2021 and the situation has continued to worsen through 2022.”
The White House has said alleviating formula shortages is a “top priority” for President Biden.
“That is something that we have certainly been tracking. Ensuring that infant formula is safe and available to families across the country is a top White House priority,” incoming White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Wednesday.

Cammack made it clear that he does not blame children at the border for the problem, but said “it infuriates me that this is yet another example of America’s latest agenda that the Biden administration continues to perpetuate.”
“I don’t know about you, but if I’m a mom, anywhere at any time in America, and I go to my local Walmart or Target or Publix or Safeway or Kroger or wherever I shop and you’re looking at your shelves and you’re seeing signs that can’t get baby formula,” she said. “And then you see the American government palletizing thousands and thousands of containers of baby formula to the border, that would make my blood boil.”
Cammack’s office did not immediately respond to a Fox News request for comment.
