NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 with 16128 CUDA cores and 450W TDP is reportedly twice as fast as RTX 3090

NVIDIA Ada’s RTX 4090 Flagship To Be Announced In Mid-July

Kopite7kimi has some new information on the flagship NVIDIA Ada graphics card.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 will feature 126 streaming multiprocessors, providing 16128 CUDA cores total. That’s a lot less than previously rumored 140-142. As a reminder, the full AD102 GPU is 144, which means 2304 cores will be disabled in the flagship RTX 40 GPU. It should be noted that the RTX 4090 Ti will more than likely follow later, with even more cores.

Also, kopite7kimi provided a new estimate on the TDP of RTX4090. It is no longer 600W, but 450W. That said, the 600W spec could refer to the 4090 Ti model, while 450W is the exact same metric as the RTX 3090 Ti, which was considered a “test vehicle” for the AD102 GPU. The RTX 3090, to which the RTX 4090 is compared as “twice as fast”, has a TDP of 350W.

Kopite reiterated its claims about the RTX 4090 memory specs. The card will feature 24GB of 21Gbps GDDR6X memory. This means a 384-bit memory bus and more than 1TB/s of bandwidth.

According to the leaker, the GeForce RTX 40 series will launch in mid-July. This is a confirmation of what Kopite posted yesterday and has left some of our readers wondering what exactly he meant.

It is very likely that in the first wave, the RTX 40 series will include the RTX 4090, 4080 and 4070 models. Just remember that these are still rumored specs, and there are clearly a lot of changes every week. Of course, we will do our best to confirm those specifications as soon as possible.
