Tim Hortons will open its first Irish restaurant in Limerick

IRELAND’s first Tim Hortons restaurant will open its doors in Limerick.

Planning permission has been granted for a branch of the Canadian fast food chain to open a restaurant in the Limerick One shopping center on Childers Road.

Limerick City and County Council have given permission for the outlet to be built after an initial planning application was submitted in October.

The restaurant will be the first Irish branch of the chain which has 57 cafes in the UK, including Northern Ireland.

The new 3,000-square-foot, single-story restaurant will be located on the north side of the car park near the Bloodmill Road entrance and will include a Drive Thru.

Construction is expected to take 11 months in total; five months for assembly, demolition and excavation and six for construction of structures.

The planning request includes plans to improve the main road to the business park to help ease traffic into and out of the parking lot.

An assessment has been carried out in the area which the applicants claim shows that the proposed development will not have a material impact on the operation of the adjacent road network.
