AUSTIN, Texas (WJW) — Funeral expenses for those killed in Tuesday’s Uvalde, Texas, school shooting are covered, Texas Governor Greg Abbott said.
An anonymous donor reportedly paid $175,000 to go to the funerals for the 19 children and two teachers killed in the massacre at Robb Elementary School.
“We thank that anonymous donor for their generosity,” Abbott said at a news conference Tuesday. “And we will make sure those resources get into the right hands… No family that is suffering untold heartache right now will have to worry about a single cost regarding this charade,” Abbott said.
The Governor also made it clear that anyone in Uvalde is eligible for free mental health care at this time.
The school shooting is one of the deadliest in US history. An investigation is ongoing into what led authorities to take more than 45 minutes to enter the classroom.
