pi Venture leads Rs 14 Cr seed round at Preimage

3D reconstruction platform Preimage has raised Rs 14 crore in a seed round led by pi Ventures. The company previously raised $355K in a pre-seed round led by Better Capital, which also saw participation from Arka Ventures and iSeed Ventures.

The new capital will be used to strengthen its product, expand the team across business segments, and build a strong go-to-market movement in drone-based surveying and mapping use cases.

Preimage, founded by Ugam Kamat and Siddharth Jha, provides solutions for 3D digital clone generation by providing a fast, automated processing workflow that can scale to tens of thousands of images. These 3D digital clones are useful for geometric measurements, visual inspections, 3D graphics, architectural modeling, archaeological preservation, and scientific simulations.

Earlier this year, Preimage launched a beta version of its product and claims to have attracted more than 200 customers, from small businesses to large enterprises in the US, India, Asia Pacific and Europe. The company’s open-source 3D reconstruction platform will launch later this year.

Lead investor Pi Ventures had raised Rs 300 crore towards the first closing of its second fund of $100 million (Rs 750 crore) in January this year. His portfolio includes Locus, Agnikul, Niramai, Wysa, and Pyxis, among others. In November 2021, Better Capital will also raised its seed fund of $15.2 million to scale its initial and pre-seed investment in India.
